How does the Loyalty Program work?

The Loyalty Program applies to WEA Property & Casualty Insurance Company auto and home insurance policies and consists of two advantages that participants can earn:

  • Added discounts
  • Preferred underwriting and rating

Renewal discount

After three years of continuous coverage, a longevity discount is applied to the policyholder’s auto or home insurance policies as follows:

In yearsAdded discount
3-42%
5-63%
7-84%
9 and after5%

If, for any reason, a policy must be reinstated or rewritten with a lapse in coverage that exceeds 30 days, the discount and any accumulated credit is forfeited, and the determination of longevity begins anew.

Safe Driver discount

If participants remain accident-free for seven years, the usual 10% safe driving discount, which is available to all participants after three years of safe driving, will increase to 15%. This discount stays in effect as long as the policy remains active and no at-fault claims are paid by the company.

Preferred underwriting and rating

Premium rates are based on the risk of potential loss. This typically means that an additional premium is charged if a participant causes an accident where more than $1,000 is paid by the company to repair any damage.

With the Loyalty Program, the usual premium increase that results from an “at-fault” accident will be waived if the participant’s policy is clear of any chargeable accidents and/or violations during the previous five years and there is no substantial change in the risk of the household (i.e., new youthful driver).

Service that goes above and beyond…

“I was involved in my first serious car accident a few years ago. I was able to speak to someone from Member Benefits immediately while still at the accident scene. She helped calm me down, I felt reassured that the claim was being handled professionally, and I didn’t need to worry.”—Mary Kelly-Rotar, Marshfield School District

“When I was searching for home insurance, I called a number of different insurance companies. Member Benefits gave me quotes without trying to sell me a bunch of stuff I didn’t need. They were extremely helpful, and I know switching to Member Benefits was the right choice.”—Amy Fictum, Fond du Lac School District

How we do business

At WEA Member Benefits, we do things differently than other insurers. We’re not a typical insurance company; we operate as a trust which reinvests any profits back into programs that benefit participants. We take time to learn about you—your needs, your family situation, your tolerance for risk, and other factors—so we can help you determine which programs work best for you.

To make our mission succeed, we have established guidelines, or underwriting principles, that define eligible risks. These guidelines help us to serve all Wisconsin public school employees better. Without proper underwriting, our services could not be affordably priced and many might be excluded from the benefits of our programs. The purpose of these underwriting principles is to ensure high-quality programs for participants on a cost effective basis and to ensure Member Benefits’ future well-being.

Unlike many other insurers, we communicate these guidelines to our participants so you know what to expect.
