You decide how long your money lasts with new withdrawal option

Introducing the Period Certain Withdrawal Option for the TSA Guaranteed Investment

You have been contributing to your TSA account for many years, and retirement is just around the corner. How might your money be paid out? What options are available to you?

You decide how long it lasts

Effective January 1, 2008, participants will have the option to distribute their guaranteed investment balance over a fixed number of years.

WEA Trust Member Benefits’ new period withdrawal option allows you the flexibility and control over the money you have worked so hard to save. If you are concerned about how long your investment will last, this may be the option for you. The new period certain withdrawal option allows you to state the number of years you wish your money to last.

The amount distributed to you each year depends on three criteria:
1.  The number of years you wish to receive distributions.
2.  The frequency in which you request withdrawals.
3.  The interest rate earned on the non-distributed amounts in your guaranteed investment.

For example

Suppose you choose to have your account paid out over five years. Your annual disbursement would be one-fifth of your account balance in the first year, one-fourth of the balance in the second year, and so on. The full balance along with the investment return would be depleted at the end of the five-year period.

In addition, the frequency of your withdrawals can be selected by you to meet your specific needs. We offer monthly, quarterly, semiannual, or annual withdrawal options.

What’s more, you can choose the period certain withdrawal option for all or a portion of your guaranteed investment. However, when you reach age 70½, your withdrawal choices must satisfy IRS minimum required distribution requirements.

If you have questions regarding this withdrawal option, please contact Member Benefits at 1-800-279-4030.
